Our Story

Sully & Proper
Founded in Texas in 2017, Sully & Proper was built on a simple belief: the things you carry every day should be built to last a lifetime. We are a leather goods company dedicated to handcrafting wallets, bags, belts, and accessories using time-honored techniques and the finest materials available.
Every piece that leaves our workshop is cut, stitched, and finished by hand. We source premium full-grain and vegetable-tanned leathers from trusted tanneries, selecting each hide for its character, durability, and natural beauty. No shortcuts, no compromise.
What started as a passion for traditional leatherwork has grown into a brand trusted by people who value craft, quality, and the quiet confidence that comes from carrying something made with care.
“Built by hand. Made to last.”
Our Approach to Craft
We believe great leather goods are born from patience and intention. Each product begins with thoughtful design, balancing form and function to create pieces that are as practical as they are beautiful.
Our workshop relies on traditional hand-stitching methods, solid brass and copper hardware, and edge-finishing techniques that ensure every detail holds up over years of daily use. We favor saddle stitching over machine stitching because it creates a stronger, more durable seam that only gets better with age.
We also believe in transparency. We want you to know where your leather comes from, how your goods are made, and why we choose the materials we do. When you invest in Sully & Proper, you are investing in something real.

The Process
Select
Every piece begins with selecting the right leather. We choose premium hides for their grain, weight, and character — ensuring each product develops a rich patina over time.
Cut & Stitch
Patterns are carefully cut by hand and assembled using saddle stitching with waxed linen thread. This traditional method creates seams that are stronger than the leather itself.
Finish
Edges are burnished and sealed, hardware is set by hand, and every detail is inspected before your piece ships. The result is a product built to be carried for decades.
